100 words: Leigh Toomey, ACC, MBA, M.Ed., MST is the author of Leaking Authority and creator of the only delegation framework built specifically for women navigating corporate and educational organizations designed around male leadership norms. A certified executive coach, keynote speaker, and former Head of School with 20+ years of senior leadership experience, she founded LeadHERship Educational Solutions to give women leaders the tools the leadership industry never gave them. Her work has been featured at UPenn GSE, AIMS, and independent school and corporate leadership conferences across the country. Leaking Authority publishes Summer 2026.
250 words: Leigh Toomey, ACC, MBA, M.Ed., MST is a leadership coach, keynote speaker, and author whose work focuses on one specific and under-addressed problem: the structural patterns through which women in senior leadership consistently lose authority they have already earned, without knowing it, and the framework to stop it.
Her career spans pharmaceutical sales, nonprofit leadership, business ownership, and more than two decades in independent school administration, culminating in the role of Head of School. It was there, watching capable, committed women leaders consistently carry more than their roles required, that the Leaking Authority framework was born.
Leigh is the founder of LeadHERship Educational Solutions and the creator of the Leaking Authority Workshop, a hands-on delegation system now delivered to corporate organizations, independent schools, ERGs, and leadership development programs across sectors. Her keynotes have been featured at UPenn GSE's Center for School Study Councils, AIMS, and the Small Schools Leadership Summit, among others.
She holds an MBA, a Master of Science in Teaching, a Master of Advanced Studies in Educational Administration, a Harvard GSOE Leadership Certificate, and an ICF ACC Executive Coaching certification. Her weekly Substack, Women Leading With Authority, publishes every week at leightoomey.substack.com.
Leaking Authority: The Hidden Ways Women Leaders Lose Power Without Knowing It and How to Stop publishes Summer 2026.

Podcast Topics

Five ready-to-use episode concepts:

1. Why "Just Delegate More" Is the Worst Advice Women Leaders Get, and What Actually Works Instead. This standard delegation advice was built for leaders whose authority goes unquestioned. For women, it doesn't. Leigh breaks down why the playbook fails and what a framework built for women actually looks like.

2. Authority Leakage: The Hidden Pattern Keeping Women Leaders Overworked. Most women leaders don't realize they're giving authority away until it's gone. Leigh introduces the concept of authority leakage and the five specific patterns through which it happens.

3. The System Was Built for Someone Else: Leading With Authority in a Male-Designed Organization. A direct, research-grounded conversation about the structural conditions that make leadership harder for women and what organizations can do about it.

4. What Happens When Delegation Fails and How to Recover Without Losing Authority. Delegation will fail. The question is what you do next. Leigh walks through the four-reason diagnostic for delegation failure and the recovery conversation that rebuilds trust without quietly pulling everything back.

5. The Delegation Book the Leadership Industry Never Wrote for Women - Until Now. A conversation about Leaking Authority: why it was written, what it names, and why the leadership industry has been missing this framework for decades.
