My Story

Not long ago, I found myself at dinner with a fellow female coach. Instead of the usual "What do you do?" or "Where do you work?" she simply asked, "What's your story?" This opened the door to a deeper conversation, and I began to share my tale.

I always dreamed of becoming a teacher, but a counselor once advised me to pursue a business degree instead, saying, "That's where the jobs are." So, I went to college, earned my MBA, and became the only female sales representative for the East Coast at a leading pharmaceuticals company. At the time, working in an all-male team felt like I needed to fit in, so I donned the pantsuit, sipped bourbon, and laughed loudly at the jokes and over the years that followed I founded a not-for-profit, owned for-profit businesses, and sat on Board of Trusts.

Eventually, the opportunity arose to follow my true passion. I returned to college to earn an MST and embraced my love for teaching. A mentor who observed my teaching suggested I combine my business acumen with my passion for education and step into administration. This prompted another round of studies, and I earned an M.Ed. Over the years, I held various roles—Team Leader, Middle School Director, Interim Fine Arts Director, Assistant Head of School, Business and Development Director, and lastly, Head of School.

During my experiences in schools, I observed a recurring issue: women aspiring to or already in leadership roles often lacked opportunities—or the self-belief—to master the business aspects of school administration. This insight motivated me to pursue a certification in Executive Leadership Coaching, igniting my mission to empower women in education with the skills and confidence needed to excel in both business and leadership.

On a side note, I still wear pantsuits (when I feel like it), sip the bourbon (but from a wine glass), and laugh at my own jokes.

What's your story?
